No White Christmas for me!

December 30, 2009 at 10:41 am (Daily Ramblings)

We had a great Christmas weekend! Mel and I relaxed and didn’t feel like we HAD to do anything which is a great feeling!! Mel got his PS3, some games, and a model of a V-8 Engine, and some CD’s. I got a Kindle!!! I am so excited..even though at first I was all “I love to smell and see the books, and turn the pages” But then that kind of started to get expensive and I would read the books way too quickly and then be off to buy more books, it was a vicious cycle that I can’t afford at the moment. So the Kindle is my best bet, they have FREE may I repeat FREE books, and the classics are like 25-75 cents delivered free and wirelessly!! Now don’t get me wrong I will be buying all of the books I read, eventually to have in my bookcase in my future home! I just can’t afford to buy the books as I continue to devour literature! I’ve had the Kindle 3 weeks, and I’ve already read 5 books! Two of which were old literature, Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights! I still read regular books at home and when I’m relaxing before bed, but the Kindle is perfect for me in my commute and at my job at lunch or on breaks because it’s so thin and easy to transport and hide pull out at anytime!

New Years we are going to a hotel party with all of our friends! We get a party room and then two others with two double beds and then no one is driving home or not having a good time! Hopefully I will remember to take pictures! I hope everyone is gearing up for a great New Years!!

How did everyone’s Christmas go? I hope it was relaxing and full of fun times with family and friends!

Christmas time!

December 24, 2009 at 11:26 am (Daily Ramblings)

I hope everyone is ready for Christmas tomorrow! I have to work today (Christmas Eve) which sucks pretty badly because everyone else is off. Our office is like a ghost town so I feel comfortable writing this without someone lurking over my shoulder! I’m excited to get home and finally start my Christmas “break” of ONE day! UGH! I miss college when we used to get like a month off, and even high school when we got close to two weeks off! Now in the “real” world I get maybe a day and a half if I’m lucky! But I am not going to dwell on the negative, I’m lucky to have a drop in this economy and I’m lucky to have a warm place to go home to with a loving fiance and my children (of course my pets!).

I bought Chevy and Izzie each something for Christmas and left it in the PetSmart bag and put it in our other room. Mel and I were watching TV on Sunday and we heard a rustling and some wierd noises so when we go to investigate we see Chevy has gotten into his Christmas gift, and eaten the feathers off of the plastic stocking it comes in! He tried to chew through the plastic to get to the toys inside! He is such a naughty cat, but too cute so we gave him a few toys and Mel is going to get him something else for tomorrow! Just one question, are we the only crazy couple who buys gifts for our pets and actually has a stocking for our Kitten and Turtle??

I hope everyone has a great Christmas!!

Out of Commission

December 18, 2009 at 11:25 am (Daily Ramblings)

My home computer is out of commission as of right now. All I see when I start it is the blue screen of death. We took it to the Geek Squad considering we’ve only had it 6 months and because it is a software problem we have to pay $150 so thats not happening. Mel has a computer guy that we’ve used before that he knows through the shop he works at and he will do it for $75 so needless to say we are using him. And since I don’t have the artistic freedom to be able to post anything of substance at work I’m not going to be posting very often and if I post it’ll be short as I am constantly making sure no one is passing by my cubicle!! I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!!! Let me know what your plans are for Christmas so I can be jealous!?

Snow Day!!

December 10, 2009 at 11:03 am (Daily Ramblings, Family, Thought of the Day)

Yesterday I had my first snow day of the season!! Below is a picture of this morning, when most of the snow was already gone:

So yesterday I spent the whole day watching Turner Classic Movies, with just me and the kitten,

I love old movies, and yesterday was all about Humphrey Bogart! Mel picked me up to go to his physical with him and we grabbed a romantic lunch McDonald’s and he inhaled it on the way back to work, and I took mine inside and ate all by my lonesome! I straightened up the house and had a nice relaxing day and just hung out! I love winter and I hope we get a ton more snow, it’s my favorite thing! 🙂

I have most of my Christmas shopping done, which is a blessing and am going to send it all out this weekend so it gets to everyone on time! We are cutting it close with Christmas cards this year, so those have to go out this weekend as well!

I forgot, I took a picture of the sunrise in Indiana on our way back from Illinois during Thanksgiving, it’s a beautiful picture but I didn’t enjoy it as I had been up since about 2:30 am and had about 8 more hours of driving!

We aren’t doing much for Christmas, except probably our new tradition of going to a movie! We went to a movie last year, I think it was Yes Man, and this year we will probably end up seeing one again! We don’t do anything except get up early open each others gifts and then we have a whole day of NOTHING! Last year we opened our presents a week early, because I swear I am still like 5 years old and can’t WAIT to open them. Mel gave in last year to my nagging, but this year he is more then determined to make me wait ! 😦 Oh well, I love the holiday season, I hope y’all are having a great Holiday season so far? Am I the only one that still is like a 5 year old for Christmas morning?

Movie Review/Update

December 1, 2009 at 10:34 am (Dinner at My House, Family, Movie Review)

Ok so here is a movie review for you:

G.I. Joe:
OH LORDY I love me some Channing Tatum, which I have to inform you is one of the main reasons I wanted to see this movie! And his absolutely gorgeousness does not disappoint me in this movie! I have to admit that the graphics are awesome and the overall point of the movie is kind of cool. This marine can save my life anyday! It starts out with the Marine’s doing a mission to bring a nuclear weapon somewhere and keeping it safe, then they run across the Joe’s who keep the weapon safe but have bad guys on their tail. Channing and his friend join the G.I. Joe team and help to save the world!! Anyway I loved this movie, and it is worth renting at full price!

The Box:
Unbelivably disappointing! I honestly can’t remember who the lead actor was and this movie was so uninspiring I don’t want to waste my time to google who he is! It is set back in like the 70’s and is all about having to decide to kill someone you don’t know for a million dollars! The ending is the best part when you finally get to see how they decide who dies if indeed the button is pushed! Please don’t waste your time on this, if you want to see it wait until it is in a cheap theater for $2 or in your video store for cheap!

I’m sure you’ve noticed my Christmas theme, I haven’t found anyone that does wordpress designs for cheap as of yet so I will stick with this simple pre-made free one on WordPress.com! My Thanksgiving was awesome! We had Tees-Brog(I’m not sure this is how it’s spelled), Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, Mel and I brought two cheescakes (blueberry and banana cream), we had apple slices, and fruit salad for dessert! Blond Duck was dying to know what I ate for dessert! I hope everyone’s Turkey Day was grand and full of AWESOME food!!

Any movies you want me to review? Let me know!

Before I stuff my face…

November 24, 2009 at 10:08 am (Daily Ramblings, Family, Movie Review, Road Rage!)

In answer to Blond Duck there will be a multitude of pies/cheescakes for Thanksgiving and I shall give a full report upon my return!!

Before I get to stuff my face eat like a lady this Thanksgiving I have to drive 12-14 hours and then help make the food. Even with the horrible amount of time we will be spending in our Trailblazer I am so unbelievably excited to go and get to spend a couple of days with the Fam!! And God willing we will be able to show Mel some parts of Chi-Town on Friday!!

This week at work is unbearably (sp?) slow! Everyone I email or do business with is out and won’t be back until Monday, and everything here is so quiet that I sometimes feel like screaming. You’ll be happy to know that I am to much of a lady to scream in my place of employment, but the moment I’m in my car I start screaming at all of the people who just plain do not know how to drive!

I used to do Movie Reviews, back in the day (like a few months ago) on here and I want to get back to that. This past weekend we were crazy and saw New Moon, but it was worth it. I loved the books and the movies are never as good as the books, but it was still a good movie. And I saw GI Joe, My Sister’s Keeper, and The Box (please do not waste your time on this). I know I’ve seen a few others that I can’t remember at this point. I will be starting up reviews after the Holidays!! So if you have an idea of a movie that is out on video or in the theaters that you can’t go see or want a review of let me know and I will do my best to watch it and give you the professional my critique! Although I must warn you I do believe in including the hottness of all male roles in each movie :)!!

Thanksgiving is here….already!

November 16, 2009 at 10:35 am (Daily Ramblings)

Mel and I put up our Christmas tree last night at about 8:30 PM! I was exhausted by the time we were done so we will be decorating it tonight! I love, love, love opening my Christmas box and putting out the few decorations I do have, it’s like….for lack of a better term CHRISTMAS!! I love seeing all of the things I put out last year and forgot about, and putting them out and making our small apartment all festive! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week already! We usually don’t put our tree up until after Thanksgiving but we would both be too tired after all the traveling to Illinois to see my family! I am so excited to report that my sister and her husband (boy is it wierd to say that) are coming, and my cousin that I haven’t seen in 10 years and his son are coming, along with my aunt, my mom, my grandma, and other guests related to us!! I am so excited I can’t even explain it! I am sad for Mel, but from what it sounds like his Dad isn’t going to have much of a get together this year because he has been re-doing the living room and there is no seating, and all of the excess stuff is in the dining room. I still feel bad because I know how it felt that first year away from my Dad, so I will definitely be supportive for him!

We are going to order cheescake and bring a bottle of local wine, so GROWN UP we are it’s crazy!! Anyway that is my update, I’ve been crazy busy with life/work/wedding so I haven’t updated in awhile! What is everyone up to with their holiday decorations? Do you put them up now or later?

I’m around…

October 29, 2009 at 12:55 pm (Daily Ramblings, Family, Gotta Love Men!, Thought of the Day)

I have been a sporadic poster lately and because I know I am SO very popular I feel bad that I’m not posting with my normal wonderfulness(I understand thats not a word). Thank you to everyone who gave me advice regarding my Thanksgiving debacle and support as well! I had a great weekend with my best-friend a couple of weekends ago! But I believe I’ve already bored you with those details! Anywho Mel and I still haven’t carved our pumpkins and it literally is driving me crazy! We were supposed to carve this past weekend and as usual Saturday we were crazy busy, Mel had to work and we had a ton of things to get done! Not to mention dinner with friends and much laughter! Sunday was a semi-lazy day but not really! LOL! At about 2:30 I said:

“Hey let’s carve pumpkins, we aren’t doing anything for a couple more hours!”

“No babe, I’m not in the mood”

“What, how are you not in the mood you are just laying there? And plus I got a great recipe for caramel pumpkin seeds”

“Nah, we’ll do it later, don’t worry”

“No, we won’t do it later, because you are going to help J. with his car and even though that is only a ’10 minute’ thing we both know you will be gone more like 2 hours and then you’ll have to go directly to M.’s house to fix his car and then we’ll get dinner and be too tired to carve”

“No, we’ll carve when we get back from J’s house ok?”

“Fine, but hear me buddy I know I will be right about this!”

So we ended up going to J.’s house and after figuring out what needed to be ordered for his car we bull-shitted(as my honey coins it) for wait for it…2 HOURS, good Lord I must be able to tell the future! Then M. called as we were still talking at J.’s house! Then we run home so I can grab a sweater and run to M.’s house. We stand around waiting to fix his car because he needs one bolt, then decide that said bolt needs to be ordered in the morning. We decide to go out to dinner and then after dinner M’s girlfriend (newest bridesmaid) came over to see my dress and wedding stuff. Then we invited J over because he lives down the road and he brought beer and his War pictures and videos! J. served in Japan and then Iraq and after seeing some of the pictures and footage I have a new respect for him, and I believe we are unbelivably lucky to live in the USA! Anyway we didn’t get to carve pumpkins and you know I was right and had to rub it in a bit! 🙂

We still have to carve pumpkins and they will be out for Halloween even though we don’t get trick-or-treaters! I’m not sure how this post got to be so long except I know I like to go off on tangents and I apologize! I hope everyone is having a great week and is going to have a great weekend!

Tell me, do you carve pumpkins like us?

Houston We Have Reached a Decision!

October 20, 2009 at 3:35 pm (Daily Ramblings, Family)

So the long awaited decision is that we are going to Illinois, my grandma’s house for Thanksgiving!! I am so unbelievably excited that I can barely contain myself! I was having a tough morning dealing with the crazy stuff in my head about still not knowing what I want to do with my life and as I got to work Mel called me and told me he got the day off, which was iffy there for awhile!! YAY, I told my Grandma and my mom and they want my Menu! I haven’t been to my Grandma’s for Thanksgiving in at least 5-6 years! I CAN NOT WAIT!! Mel and I will drive on Wednesday, and then stay until Saturday and be back Saturday night hopefully! It’s like a 12 hour drive, but everyone that knows we drove to Nebraska knows that 12 hours is nothing! Plus airplane tickets are through the roof because of the holidays!

Otherwise not much has been going on, my best friend from college came down to stay with me this weekend and we had a blast! We got her bridesmaids dress, got our nails done, and went to lunch. Then Mel, my friend, and I plus two other couples went to a comedy club in our town and had a blast! Then on Sunday I took my friend to the Orange County Choppers store/shop so she could take pictures and get a shirt! I had a great weekend, I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Stand Still

October 12, 2009 at 10:52 am (Daily Ramblings, Family)

Alright so my last post described how we have no idea what we are doing for Thanksgiving this year. Everytime Mel and I decide to talk about it we just continue to go around in circles and we both end up upset or frustrated because we don’t know what to do. All in all whatever we decide to do I am going to be happy and thankful for the things in life that we do have. So many people this Thanksgiving don’t have homes, jobs, or even food and here I am bitching about where I will spend my holiday. Granted it is important to me, but as long as I am with Mel and either his family or mine I will consider myself blessed.

This past weekend we had a great time! Saturday we went to The Christmas Tree Store and the restaurant Red Robin and we had a blast with a couple of friends! The Christmas Tree Store is not Chritmas related, some of it is (because it’s almost Christmas) it’s like a Home Goods but CHEAPER!! OOOHH I fell in love and bought some of the little things I needed for around the kitchen that I couldn’t afford before!! GO ME! Then on Sunday I went to my very first wine tasting at a winery really close to our house. We went with Mel’s brother and his friend and we had an awesome time. We each bought two bottles of wine, we bought two Cayuga Whites (really sweet white wine) which me and my friend J. will be partaking in this weekend when she comes to visit!! It’s Columbus Day and hear I sit in my office with nothing to do because the banks are closed, and I am in Accounting so that means I have NOTHING to do! GRR!!

By the way thanks for the advice about the Holidays I appreciate it!! SO tell me what is everyone doing today for Columbus Day, are you working your poor sould to death like me? Or are you a lucky dog and can lounge in bed today?
