March 4, 2010 at 10:12 am (Daily Ramblings, Family)

I am throwing my very first surprise party! It’s for Mel’s 25th birthday, which is this Sunday! I have invited quite a few people and he has NO IDEA, which is the most exciting part! He thinks everyone is busy on his birthday! I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he sees everyone there. One couple we haven’t seen in years so I KNOW he’ll be surprised to see them! I’m throwing it at Dave & Busters (it’s great food and an adult arcade if you’ve never heard of them). What I want to know is has anyone thrown a surprise party before? Is there something I should be aware of or know before going into this? I appreciate any help!

Happy Thursday, almost Friday!!

Snowed in…

March 1, 2010 at 11:20 am (Daily Ramblings, Family, Gotta Love Men!)

To answer the question “what are kissing bells?” You know how people clank their utensils on glasses to make the bride and groom kiss? Well that annoys the bajeesus out of Mel so we are thinking about doing Kissing Bells, which are little bells that people ring if they want us to kiss!

I asked for snow…and I got it!! Boy did I get it! Wednesday night into Thursday we got around 8 inches (not too bad) couldn’t go into work…then Thursday into Friday we got 36 inches of snow!! AND our power went out! And we were told that power wouldn’t be restored until next Wednesday!ย  So we were stuck, thank goodness Mel’s boss has a plow because after an hour of shoveling we had maybe dug out 1/4 of what needed to be dug out! Then we all went to town and had breakfast…planning ahead and not knowing when we would be able to shower next! Our friend who lives in the same town came over to hang out with us because we have a propane heater…and her house had electric heat and she was a bit frozen. We were planning on gonig to a hotel…but ALL of the hotels in ALL of the surrounding areas were BOOKED SOLID! So we were going to rent a small generator…only one place had one left and we needed to get there by 5…it was 4:20! We rushed but couldn’t do it, then we borrowed a generator, but something was wrong with it so we only had about an hour and a half with that one. All this brings us to Friday night, we had the propane heater on until we went to bed (because of the fumes, we had to turn it off) when we woke up, we were both icicles and started working on a new generator. Mel’s dad (who is essentially our landlord) decided he needed to buy a generator, even if we got power back it’s good to have. We went to Home Depot, bought a generator, had a good friend wire it into our fuse box…and the whole house lit up!! I got to take a shower and all was right with the world…except NO CABLE! OMG I know, I have heat but no cable, whats the point? ๐Ÿ™‚ We went out with friends to Red Robbin on Saturday night, and when we got home power was restored and so was cable. This is when I learned about Chile and the new devastation there. We had a good night of sleep, and then the cable was out again Sunday morning! BLAH! I went with a couple of girlfriends to register at Macy’s (SO MUCH FUN and I got a free tote bag!) And by the time Mel and I got home from laundary and our errands we had Cable!! All in all we had a crazy weekend, going non-stop trying to figure out how to heat our home so our pipes wouldn’t freeze and I forgot to mention, I had to melt snow on our propane stove to be able to flush the toilet! I was a semi-pioneer for a couple of days…and I survived!

Thanks to everyone who gave me advise about not stressing about the wedding, and honestly you are right. I should just enjoy every part of it because I only get to do it once!

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a warm weekend!

Snow Day!!

December 10, 2009 at 11:03 am (Daily Ramblings, Family, Thought of the Day)

Yesterday I had my first snow day of the season!! Below is a picture of this morning, when most of the snow was already gone:

So yesterday I spent the whole day watching Turner Classic Movies, with just me and the kitten,

I love old movies, and yesterday was all about Humphrey Bogart! Mel picked me up to go to his physical with him and we grabbed a romantic lunch McDonald’s and he inhaled it on the way back to work, and I took mine inside and ate all by my lonesome! I straightened up the house and had a nice relaxing day and just hung out! I love winter and I hope we get a ton more snow, it’s my favorite thing! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have most of my Christmas shopping done, which is a blessing and am going to send it all out this weekend so it gets to everyone on time! We are cutting it close with Christmas cards this year, so those have to go out this weekend as well!

I forgot, I took a picture of the sunrise in Indiana on our way back from Illinois during Thanksgiving, it’s a beautiful picture but I didn’t enjoy it as I had been up since about 2:30 am and had about 8 more hours of driving!

We aren’t doing much for Christmas, except probably our new tradition of going to a movie! We went to a movie last year, I think it was Yes Man, and this year we will probably end up seeing one again! We don’t do anything except get up early open each others gifts and then we have a whole day of NOTHING! Last year we opened our presents a week early, because I swear I am still like 5 years old and can’t WAIT to open them. Mel gave in last year to my nagging, but this year he is more then determined to make me wait ! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Oh well, I love the holiday season, I hope y’all are having a great Holiday season so far? Am I the only one that still is like a 5 year old for Christmas morning?

Movie Review/Update

December 1, 2009 at 10:34 am (Dinner at My House, Family, Movie Review)

Ok so here is a movie review for you:

G.I. Joe:
OH LORDY I love me some Channing Tatum, which I have to inform you is one of the main reasons I wanted to see this movie! And his absolutely gorgeousness does not disappoint me in this movie! I have to admit that the graphics are awesome and the overall point of the movie is kind of cool. This marine can save my life anyday! It starts out with the Marine’s doing a mission to bring a nuclear weapon somewhere and keeping it safe, then they run across the Joe’s who keep the weapon safe but have bad guys on their tail. Channing and his friend join the G.I. Joe team and help to save the world!! Anyway I loved this movie, and it is worth renting at full price!

The Box:
Unbelivably disappointing! I honestly can’t remember who the lead actor was and this movie was so uninspiring I don’t want to waste my time to google who he is! It is set back in like the 70’s and is all about having to decide to kill someone you don’t know for a million dollars! The ending is the best part when you finally get to see how they decide who dies if indeed the button is pushed! Please don’t waste your time on this, if you want to see it wait until it is in a cheap theater for $2 or in your video store for cheap!

I’m sure you’ve noticed my Christmas theme, I haven’t found anyone that does wordpress designs for cheap as of yet so I will stick with this simple pre-made free one on! My Thanksgiving was awesome! We had Tees-Brog(I’m not sure this is how it’s spelled), Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, Mel and I brought two cheescakes (blueberry and banana cream), we had apple slices, and fruit salad for dessert! Blond Duck was dying to know what I ate for dessert! I hope everyone’s Turkey Day was grand and full of AWESOME food!!

Any movies you want me to review? Let me know!

Before I stuff my face…

November 24, 2009 at 10:08 am (Daily Ramblings, Family, Movie Review, Road Rage!)

In answer to Blond Duck there will be a multitude of pies/cheescakes for Thanksgiving and I shall give a full report upon my return!!

Before I get to stuff my face eat like a lady this Thanksgiving I have to drive 12-14 hours and then help make the food. Even with the horrible amount of time we will be spending in our Trailblazer I am so unbelievably excited to go and get to spend a couple of days with the Fam!! And God willing we will be able to show Mel some parts of Chi-Town on Friday!!

This week at work is unbearably (sp?) slow! Everyone I email or do business with is out and won’t be back until Monday, and everything here is so quiet that I sometimes feel like screaming. You’ll be happy to know that I am to much of a lady to scream in my place of employment, but the moment I’m in my car I start screaming at all of the people who just plain do not know how to drive!

I used to do Movie Reviews, back in the day (like a few months ago) on here and I want to get back to that.ย This past weekend we were crazy and saw New Moon, but it was worth it. I loved the books and the movies are never as good as the books, but it was still a good movie. And I saw GI Joe, My Sister’s Keeper, and The Box (please do not waste your time on this). I know I’ve seen a few others that I can’t remember at this point. I will be starting up reviews after the Holidays!! So if you have an idea of a movie that is out on video or in the theaters that you can’t go see or want a review of let me know and I will do my best to watch it and give you the professional my critique! Although I must warn you I do believe in including the hottness of all male roles in each movie :)!!

I’m around…

October 29, 2009 at 12:55 pm (Daily Ramblings, Family, Gotta Love Men!, Thought of the Day)

I have been a sporadic poster lately and because I know I am SO very popular I feel bad that I’m not posting with my normal wonderfulness(I understand thats not a word). Thank you to everyone who gave me advice regarding my Thanksgiving debacle and support as well! I had a great weekend with my best-friend a couple of weekends ago! But I believe I’ve already bored you with those details! Anywho Mel and I still haven’t carved our pumpkins and it literally is driving me crazy! We were supposed to carve this past weekend and as usual Saturday we were crazy busy, Mel had to work and we had a ton of things to get done! Not to mention dinner with friends and much laughter! Sunday was a semi-lazy day but not really! LOL! At about 2:30 I said:

“Hey let’s carve pumpkins, we aren’t doing anything for a couple more hours!”

“No babe, I’m not in the mood”

“What, how are you not in the mood you are just laying there? And plus I got a great recipe for caramel pumpkin seeds”

“Nah, we’ll do it later, don’t worry”

“No, we won’t do it later, because you are going to help J. with his car and even though that is only a ’10 minute’ thing we both know you will be gone more like 2 hours and then you’ll have to go directly to M.’s house to fix his car and then we’ll get dinner and be too tired to carve”

“No, we’ll carve when we get back from J’s house ok?”

“Fine, but hear me buddy I know I will be right about this!”

So we ended up going to J.’s house and after figuring out what needed to be ordered for his car we bull-shitted(as my honey coins it) for wait for it…2 HOURS, good Lord I must be able to tell the future! Then M. called as we were still talking at J.’s house! Then we run home so I can grab a sweater and run to M.’s house. We stand around waiting to fix his car because he needs one bolt, then decide that said bolt needs to be ordered in the morning. We decide to go out to dinner and then after dinner M’s girlfriend (newest bridesmaid) came over to see my dress and wedding stuff. Then we invited J over because he lives down the road and he brought beer and his War pictures and videos! J. served in Japan and then Iraq and after seeing some of the pictures and footage I have a new respect for him, and I believe we are unbelivably lucky to live in the USA! Anyway we didn’t get to carve pumpkins and you know I was right and had to rub it in a bit! ๐Ÿ™‚

We still have to carve pumpkins and they will be out for Halloween even though we don’t get trick-or-treaters! I’m not sure how this post got to be so long except I know I like to go off on tangents and I apologize! I hope everyone is having a great week and is going to have a great weekend!

Tell me, do you carve pumpkins like us?

Houston We Have Reached a Decision!

October 20, 2009 at 3:35 pm (Daily Ramblings, Family)

So the long awaited decision is that we are going to Illinois, my grandma’s house for Thanksgiving!! I am so unbelievably excited that I can barely contain myself! I was having a tough morning dealing with the crazy stuff in my head about still not knowing what I want to do with my life and as I got to work Mel called me and told me he got the day off, which was iffy there for awhile!! YAY, I told my Grandma and my mom and they want my Menu! I haven’t been to my Grandma’s for Thanksgiving in at least 5-6 years! I CAN NOT WAIT!! Mel and I will drive on Wednesday, and then stay until Saturday and be back Saturday night hopefully! It’s like a 12 hour drive, but everyone that knows we drove to Nebraska knows that 12 hours is nothing! Plus airplane tickets are through the roof because of the holidays!

Otherwise not much has been going on, my best friend from college came down to stay with me this weekend and we had a blast! We got her bridesmaids dress, got our nails done, and went to lunch. Then Mel, my friend, and I plus two other couples went to a comedy club in our town and had a blast! Then on Sunday I took my friend to the Orange County Choppers store/shop so she could take pictures and get a shirt! I had a great weekend, I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Stand Still

October 12, 2009 at 10:52 am (Daily Ramblings, Family)

Alright so my last post described how we have no idea what we are doing for Thanksgiving this year. Everytime Mel and I decide to talk about it we just continue to go around in circles and we both end up upset or frustrated because we don’t know what to do. All in all whatever we decide to do I am going to be happy and thankful for the things in life that we do have. So many people this Thanksgiving don’t have homes, jobs, or even food and here I am bitching about where I will spend my holiday. Granted it is important to me, but as long as I am with Mel and either his family or mine I will consider myself blessed.

This past weekend we had a great time! Saturday we went to The Christmas Tree Store and the restaurant Red Robin and we had a blast with a couple of friends! The Christmas Tree Store is not Chritmas related, some of it is (because it’s almost Christmas) it’s like a Home Goods but CHEAPER!! OOOHH I fell in love and bought some of the little things I needed for around the kitchen that I couldn’t afford before!! GO ME! Then on Sunday I went to my very first wine tasting at a winery really close to our house. We went with Mel’s brother and his friend and we had an awesome time. We each bought two bottles of wine, we bought two Cayuga Whites (really sweet white wine) which me and my friend J. will be partaking in this weekend when she comes to visit!! It’s Columbus Day and hear I sit in my office with nothing to do because the banks are closed, and I am in Accounting so that means I have NOTHING to do! GRR!!

By the way thanks for the advice about the Holidays I appreciate it!! SO tell me what is everyone doing today for Columbus Day, are you working your poor sould to death like me? Or are you a lucky dog and can lounge in bed today?

Traveling with the best of em’

August 7, 2009 at 10:39 am (Bitch, Bitch, Bitch, Daily Ramblings, Family, Gotta Love Men!, Road Rage!)

Alright, so here is my long awaited post about my vacation! If I was a professional at this I would have taken a TON of pictures, but I didn’t even take my camera out of the case I was so frickin busy! From the moment I got there to the Saturday before we left I was busy and a roller coaster of emotions! I cried when I hugged my dad when I first got there, I cried AFTER my sister got to the church in her dress and saw my dad (I dressed her and help her put on all her undergarments, but didn’t cry until AFTER all of that, wierd) it took me like 10 minutes to compose myself and another daddy hug! Then I had to try and pull it together for the pictures, and then cried again throughout the ceremony and almost tripped on the way up (in my defense almost ALL of the girls tripped, because we had one hand around the groomsmen arm and the other occupied with flowers so we couldn’t lift our dress on the way up to the platform). The ceremony was short and so was the reception (no alcohol or music as per her religious beliefs) people just ate and left! Then I finally got to spend time with my dad and family I hadn’t seen in 5 freaking years! Then Sunday we went out to brunch with my dad and step-mom and three step-brothers and then we left from Omaha, where you guessed it I cried again hugging my dad good-bye! Holy Crap who knew I could cry so much! And then of course I cried 6 hours into the trip because it finally hit me I was already headed home and my vacation was pretty much over! WOW did I just ramble with run-on sentences? Yep I think I did, it is what I DOOOO!!

Overall we had a great time and M. was a damn trooper putting up with everything! He said that we might move out to the midwest eventually, and that I shouldn’t count it out! YAY! I hope everyone has had a good week/weekend and I am slowly getting back into my routine of blog updating and stalking reading!

Thank God it’s Friday my head hurts from all the crying!

I’m back

August 4, 2009 at 8:56 am (Daily Ramblings, Family)

Alright so I just deleted two exclamation points off of the title, because I’m not as happy as I should be to be back home and relaxing!? ๐Ÿ˜ฅ I cried most of Monday the way home and yesterday was just depressing, I took a shower when I got home and couldn’t stop crying! I don’t know why I can’t just be happy about being home and everything this weekend going smoothly. I cried pretty much all day Saturday at my sisters wedding, it was harder then I thought it was going to be! And then I had to leave my dad and of course more frickin tears! M. said that he wouldn’t mind moving out west eventually, but if I feel this shitty about being away from my family and friends then how is he going to feel about leaving his?! UGH I just want to relax and I can’t stop thinking about this crap! Anyway…thanks for all the well wishes and the comments I will be back into the swing of blog reading by Friday. Tomorrow at work I’m sure it’s going to be hell trying to catch up and I will hopefully be able to surf the net and my favorite blogs Thursday into Friday! I hope everyone had a great week and weekend!!!
