All the little things!

October 8, 2009 at 11:35 am (All about the books baby!, Daily Ramblings, Dinner at My House)

Mel and I had a pretty great weekend! We got all of our errands done Saturday morning, because he didn’t have to work (praise Jesus!) and then we did laundary and went Pumpkin picking with two other couples! We had a blast picking out a pumpkin for Mel, myself, and one for our kids (you know the turtle and kitten!). We are going to carve them this weekend, I should have pictures of this and I will post them so you all can laugh at be jealous of my skills! We were going to go to the races on Sunday, but we bowed out at the last minute because we didn’t want to leave at the butt crack of dawn, and because we don’t like import car shows and thats exactly what this was!! Oh well we took the day and relaxed and had a nice day!

Well all nice things put aside, Mel and I are having a difficult time deciding what to do for Thanksgiving. I haven’t been with my Grandma on Thanksgiving since I moved to New York in May of 05′ and last year Mel promised me we would go to her this Thanksgiving (in Illinois). Now he is not sure he can not be with his dad this Thanksgiving, and I understand his point but it’s ONE year at my families table! JUST ONE! And we’ll be around for Christmas! He has never not been with his Dad on Thanksgiving, but I had to deal with my first Thanksgiving without my family for 4 years now, and it stinks! And the more appropriate argument he has is money, but I’m just sad about the idea of not going, so I don’t know how this one will turn out! He suggested splitting up, and I about took his head off! He proposed last year on Thanksgiving, so it’s our year anniversary of being engaged! And it’s our first Thanksgiving as an engaged couple, kind of corny but I don’t want to split up! I have no idea what we are going to do, and I am beginning to lose sleep over it! Anybody know of cheap flight tickets from Laguardia Airport to Ohare leaving Nov. 25th in the morning and coming back Nov. 29th in the mid-morning? I would be happy to hear of any ideas for cost saving ideas!!!??

Now it’s your turn to spill, what are you and yours doing for the holidays this year? Did you ever have to deal with deciding which family to go to? How did you resolve it?

Morning Construction and Where have I been?

September 23, 2009 at 11:03 am (All about the books baby!, Bitch, Bitch, Bitch, Daily Ramblings, Road Rage!)

Sorry I have been scarce lately, Mel and I haven’t had much going on unless you count buying a new bed  miracle! Mel and I had a good weekend, he has been going to a pain management clinic three times a week for massages and to see the chiropractor which he says is helping him a little! 🙂 YAY!! I love it when he says his pain is less, it is a difficult thing to see the one you love in so much pain and all you can do is be there for him and that still doesn’t take the pain away!

Ok, so back to my Miracle! Mel and I have been having really crappy nights of sleep for the past few weeks and we knew we needed a new bed. We were hoping to put it off but when we both started getting comments on the bags under our eyes we decided to go look for a new bed! We bought our first bed (queen size, pillow top) about 4 years ago, and we loved the bed and the bed treated us with respect and kindness…..BUT…..when we picked that bed out we didn’t know really what our preferences were in beds so we just picked something semi-soft and semi-firm you know half and half! Little did we know we both prefer ultra-soft beds that form to us and support our backs. Also we decided we NEEDED a King size bed because we are bigger people and we have a very spoiled kitten that likes to spread out even if that means kicking one of us to the edge of the queen size bed! Plus when we stayed in hotels on our way to and from Nebraska we had King sized beds and it was divine, he could stretch his 6’4 self out and still not encroach on my 5’6 terrirtory! I can’t tell you how many times I have had to wake up and scream politely tell him to get off my mother effing side of the bed! To make a long story short we purchased our new Sleep to Live KING size bed ultra soft and I even went to bed late last night and I feel unbelievably rested!! YAY!! Mel is in love with the fact that he can stretch and stretch and I don’t have to scream politely talk to him about any longer!!

Here is a picture of the bed with our Kitten directly in the middle! Also please don’t mind the outrageously 70’s wood panelling on our walls, it’s a basement apartment that we get for cheap!

bed

I hit really bad traffic this morning for the first time ever! I usually hit traffic at night not in the morning! So I got to work an hour late, no one cared though which is nice! And I was off on Monday because of car trouble 😉 so I have to get to work!

P.S. I am going to be having a blog makeover by Miss Faith at her gorgeous website! So there are changes coming!!!

About Time

August 31, 2009 at 10:19 am (All about the books baby!, Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

I haven’t posted in a long time, I haven’t had much going on besides the same ol’ boring stuff as usual! This weekend we went to an awesome Pig Roast, the annual one Mel’s boss has, and we had a great time as usual! I’m getting more and more nervouse about making sure I have everything planned for the wedding that I possible can plan now! It’s 10 months away, but I feel like I should be doing more? Who knows! Anyway…I finally finished the Twilight series, and I read the first little bit of Midnight Sun on the authors website, but that hasn’t even been finished! So I’m sad that I don’t have anymore Bella and Edward stuff to look forward to int he immediate future! I picked up my Jane Eyre book again, and I’m glad I did it has captured my attention, and I will finish it next! I wish I wasn’t such a nerd but I LOVE to read, and I think it’s better then wathching to much NYC Prep or awesome reality TV, which I indulge in too often as well! 🙂

I hope everyone had a great weekend!! I look forward to catching up on everyone’s sites today, I missed Friday because I was reading the Midnight Sun draft online! 🙂

Daily Reading?

August 11, 2009 at 10:08 am (All about the books baby!, Daily Ramblings)

I got back from vacation and M. decided to take a side job about an hour and a half away and he wanted me to come with him because he didn’t want to drive alone, and we could spend time together! And on top of that I could go by a book to have something to do while he did a transmission! So I went with every intention of buying Breaking Dawn (because I am done with Eclipse) but it wasn’t there in paperback and I didn’t want to spend a small fortune on the hardcover when I prefer paperback! Anywho I started searching for something to read, Jen Lancaster’s Pretty in Plaid was just in hardcover so I moved on again! I decided to buy some classics that I haven’t read, I bought Jane Eyre and The Other Boyeln Sister! I’m just starting Jane Eyre, but I feel like I’ve missed out until now so I am going to try and catch up on all of the classics that I can stand to read!!

Any suggestions??

Going Away…Twilight Update

July 27, 2009 at 3:38 pm (All about the books baby!, Daily Ramblings, Family)

Tomorrow is my last day of work before M. and I leave for Nebraska to go to my sisters wedding!! I am so excited and can no longer concentrate on work, crap! I won’t be posting while on my vacation, and I know it will break all of your hearts (read with heavy sarcasm).

M. and I went to the demolition derby last night and we had a blast, we go in the pits becuase he helps fix the cars up before and after and so does his boss, so we rode along with him last night!

I am now halfway through the third book in the Twilight series! I was dissapointed to see that the last two books haven’t come out in paperback yet, but whatev! I didn’t have to buy the second one, I went to my neighbors to borrow luggage and I asked her if she read Twilight, and she said her and her 11 or 12 year old son are reading Twilight on and off together so that they can watch the movie together, but they bought New Moon (the second book) to read next. She asked if I wanted to borrow it, and M. was like “You really don’t have to ask, just give her the damn book and she’ll bring it back tomorrow” YAY I finished the book in a day or less and brought it back to them so he could have it at camp!

While M. and I were at the mall I was like we can’t go past Borders (our book store) otherwise I’ll want to buy the next book! And he was like, I don’t care just by it! So I bought it and I am SLOWLY reading it to the best of my ability! I love this series and am completely blown away by the fierceness of Edward and Bella’s relationship and their lives toghether! LOVE IT!

Anywhoo, this is my good-bye post so good-bye, so long!! No let’s just pray I can make it through tomorrow without it feeling like a decade!
