WTF a drive-by in boondock New York?

September 24, 2009 at 7:08 pm (1)

Ok so I was sleeping peacefully in my new king size bed, sorry if you’re sick of hearing about my awesome bed, I understand you are jealous no biggie! 😉 , and all of a sudden I hear “POP, TING, POP, TING, POP, TING” I jumped up and started freaking out thinking someone was trying to bust a cap in my only underwear wearing ass! Mel promptly woke up and said:

“Do you remember what you were complaining about this morning?”

“Me COMPLAIN? I think you are thinking of someone else”

“OK, so what is scattered all over our driveway and has been wreaking havoc on the roofs of our cars all summer?”

“OOOOHHH” my mental breakthrough ensued, and I realized we were indeed not being shot-up by Pablo and his SA’s!

Please look at the following photos to show why I almost had a heart attack and started seeing my life flash before my eyes (I may be exaggerating, but you get it)

EFFING ACORNS!! All over the place, when I pull in my driveway it sounds like all four of my tires are simultaneously popping! So that was a little of my night time debauchery!

**Update**My blog makeover will be happening soon, Faith is working on a design for this fine writing establishment known as me SurvivingLifeDaily!! If you stop by and for some reason some naughtiness is afoot that is whats going on!!

Morning Construction and Where have I been?

September 23, 2009 at 11:03 am (All about the books baby!, Bitch, Bitch, Bitch, Daily Ramblings, Road Rage!)

Sorry I have been scarce lately, Mel and I haven’t had much going on unless you count buying a new bed  miracle! Mel and I had a good weekend, he has been going to a pain management clinic three times a week for massages and to see the chiropractor which he says is helping him a little! 🙂 YAY!! I love it when he says his pain is less, it is a difficult thing to see the one you love in so much pain and all you can do is be there for him and that still doesn’t take the pain away!

Ok, so back to my Miracle! Mel and I have been having really crappy nights of sleep for the past few weeks and we knew we needed a new bed. We were hoping to put it off but when we both started getting comments on the bags under our eyes we decided to go look for a new bed! We bought our first bed (queen size, pillow top) about 4 years ago, and we loved the bed and the bed treated us with respect and kindness…..BUT…..when we picked that bed out we didn’t know really what our preferences were in beds so we just picked something semi-soft and semi-firm you know half and half! Little did we know we both prefer ultra-soft beds that form to us and support our backs. Also we decided we NEEDED a King size bed because we are bigger people and we have a very spoiled kitten that likes to spread out even if that means kicking one of us to the edge of the queen size bed! Plus when we stayed in hotels on our way to and from Nebraska we had King sized beds and it was divine, he could stretch his 6’4 self out and still not encroach on my 5’6 terrirtory! I can’t tell you how many times I have had to wake up and scream politely tell him to get off my mother effing side of the bed! To make a long story short we purchased our new Sleep to Live KING size bed ultra soft and I even went to bed late last night and I feel unbelievably rested!! YAY!! Mel is in love with the fact that he can stretch and stretch and I don’t have to scream politely talk to him about any longer!!

Here is a picture of the bed with our Kitten directly in the middle! Also please don’t mind the outrageously 70’s wood panelling on our walls, it’s a basement apartment that we get for cheap!

I hit really bad traffic this morning for the first time ever! I usually hit traffic at night not in the morning! So I got to work an hour late, no one cared though which is nice! And I was off on Monday because of car trouble 😉 so I have to get to work!

P.S. I am going to be having a blog makeover by Miss Faith at her gorgeous website! So there are changes coming!!!

What would posess someone to look for a job that is an hour and 20 minutes away from their home in the worst possible commuting state in the USA? That is the question I ask myself daily!!!

NYC is the place to be!

September 15, 2009 at 2:39 pm (Daily Ramblings)

Yes I realize that title is a little bit corny but hey I had a great time in the city on Sunday, even though we weren’t there for the best of reasons and could only stay for an hour or so! Mel’s grandma passed away last March and her headstone unveiling (sp?) was on Sunday in Long Island, which is a little over 2 hours from where we live. I drove to the cemetery in the City for the first time and even got to go over the George Washington Bridge! Because it was my first time I wasn’t too upset about the toll amount that was obnoxious! Then after the cemetery we went to Brooklyn to L&B Spamoni gardens for the best ice cream ever! They have great pizza but it’s not the best pizza ever for me like it is for Mel! I took pictures, but I’m at work so I can’t post any right now. Also Mel and I have to get our Save the Dates ordered on shutterfly and then make sure our invites are almost done! I wish our wedding would just get here, I can’t wait :)!

Mel and I rented Twilight so he could watch it and he fell in love with it too!! Well he fell in love with the movies and the story line but he won’t read the books, but I’m all like WHATEV because at least now I have a partner in this Twilight obsession! I really want another kitten and so does my honey but his dad won’t let us get another animal which I’m extremely bitter about! Anywho thats pretty much all thats going on, except I’m looking into maybe changing jobs, but I’m not sure as of yet!

Thanks for all the well wishes for Mel, basically his doctor said until he’s ready to have surgery (we have to wait until next year at least because of insurance, but Mel is really nervous about it too) then he needs to go to a Pain Management doctor to maintain the pain until surgery. So he actually made his OWN appointment for a Pain Mgnmt place for tomorrow. Boy was his secretary (i.e. ME) that he made the appointment all by his self without me asking him!! I hope all is well with everyone else in the bloggy world!! Anybody have awesome plans for the weekend?

Weekend Wrap-Up (kind of)

September 8, 2009 at 10:25 am (Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

So Mel and I had a great weekend!! I got off at 1 on Friday and surprised him by doing the laundary all by myself! See every two weeks we have to go to the laundary mat because we can’t use a washer and dryer in our apartment! So it’s a pain in the ass to sort, fill the bags, load the heavy ass bags in the car, drag said heavy ass bags into the laundary mat, spend an ass load of money to clean your clothes, have something to do for two hours, load heavy ass bags back in the car, then drag heavy ass bags back into the house and put EVERYTHING away! OK so I may have waited until Saturday to put it all away! Anywhoo, I hate doing laundary and Mel and I always tag-team it, but I did it by myself and he was shocked/happy!

We went out to dinner on Friday, ran all our errands on Saturday, and worked around the house on Sunday and relaxed, and then Labor Day we went to the U-Pick farm by where we live and got apples, peaches, and corn! Then we grilled hamburgers with Mel’s dad! Kind of a boring weekend but at least it was long and relaxing I guess.

Mel’s going to his back doctor on Wednesday so well wishes/prayers would be wonderful. He will eventually need surgery sometime in the next year but he doesn’t know when, and he wants to find a desk job before he has the fusion! He was in a bad car accident when he was 16 and he had 2 hurniated discs, now he has 3 herniated discs and he had surgery in 2007 but it was just a band-aid over a broken leg. So eventually he’ll need the full fusion, but he’s only 24 and he’ll lose some mobility and he’s worried because he’s a mechanic! So let’s hope that something good comes with this appointment otherwise I fear he will become more depressed about his back!
