Twilight? Really!

July 21, 2009 at 3:39 pm (Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

This weekend I was out of reading material and I had a long weekend to sit in the house while the renovations were being done on our pipes and in the kitchen by M.’s dad (a post in and of itself) so I went to my bookstore and they are remodelling! Damn it all, I was just getting used to the layout. Anyway, I went in thinking

“Geesh, Courtney, everyone is on this Harry Potter wagon why don’t you do it to?”

So I asked the lady where the Harry Potter books are and she led me to the KID section! The first book was like 200 pages or so and I knew that wouldn’t last me but an hour, and M. would kill me if I needed another book next week already! So I wandered around with a ton of time to kill and found Twilight. I thought:

“Well, everyone is reading this, why would you want to read this?”

Then I thought well if EVERYONE reads it and likes it I could try it and if I don’t like it I will just return it! So I bought it along with an Emily Giffin book. I started the book on Sunday and was already half-way through by bedtime! This book has compeltely enveloped me in the story line, so much so that I bring the book with me everywhere (I think you get the gist of that)! I read all hour on my lunch, and crack it open the moment I get home before M. arrives!! It has taken my breath away and I absolutely can’t wait to finish and watch the movie, but I find myself hiding the cover because I don’t want everyone to think I am a person who reads what EVERYONE is reading. Granted I like a lot of authors that are popular, but I try to stay off the main trend because I don’t want to follow the “crowd” so to speak. I thought I would share with everyone that I am completely in love with Edward and Bella and can’t sit here at work without thinking about how I can sneak this big honkin book out on my desk without anyone noticing!

Has anyone else been completely enraptured with this book? Does the movie even compare to the book? And is New Moon (the next book) just as good???

Oh deary, welcome to the dark side! Yes, I’m a lover of the books! You’ll wanna read the whole fricken series over the weekend!

New Moon was not my favorite of all the books but it was still good. My favorite was the fourth one, so hurry up and get to that one!

Crap! M. told me last night my reading will be cause for a divorce in our future! I will have to sneak read when he is not around!

Okay, I know how you feel. I haven’t read Twilight yet, but EVERYONE I know who has read it, had the same experience as you. Why haven’t I bought it? Who knows. I think it’s the rebel in me πŸ™‚

I know, thats what I thought, I was a rebel. Until I read it…now I am unbelievably hooked and I think M. might want to hurt me over my obsession with books!

The first night Twilight was laid into my hands I cracked the cover and did not put it down until I finished it. Which happened to be at 6:30 am the next morning. On a Wednesday. After evacuating from Hurricane Ike. Don’t regret a thing!!

You will love the next three as well, no doubt!! Enjoy.

You haven’t ready Harry Potter?! OMG you have to! And Twilight? Is way overrated, in my opinion. I know many people are completely blown away by it. But, eh. I read the first one. That’s it. Won’t read the rest…didn’t really get it.

Nope I haven’t but I did read Potter. I think Imay have avoided Twilight for the same reasons you described.

    A SITS visitor here.

Both Harry Potter and the Twilight series are GREAT! I highly recommend you read through both. And on that note, don’t discount kids books – there are some excellent ones out there. There is something to be said for a book that only takes you an hour to read – start it an hour before bed and you won’t stay up late reading! You can rest easy knowing the ending πŸ™‚

That’s true, I just was looking for something that I could buy and not be back the next day spending MORE money!! I will eventually read that series, just when I have more liquid assests! HAHA! I’ve always wanted to say that!

BTW, I got my books yesterday!!!! Yay! Thank you so much!!

I was like “Vampires. No thanks.” My daughter said “You HAVE to read it.” A week later I was back to real life after needing to read the ENTIRE series.

Happy Sunday! I am making way through all of the comments I received when I was featured on SITS. It really is a great SITSahood.
Thank you so much for visiting me and have a blessed day!

Hello! I hopped over here from Ali’s site – the blog title caught my eye. Twilight = LOVE LOVE LOVE!

You should join the band wagon for suuuure.

And really, either way you’d be part of a band wagon. Not reading twilight to be a “rebel” has become so popular that it’s become a band wagon. So might as well be on a band wagon that lets you read some awesome stuff!
