Going Away…Twilight Update

July 27, 2009 at 3:38 pm (All about the books baby!, Daily Ramblings, Family)

Tomorrow is my last day of work before M. and I leave for Nebraska to go to my sisters wedding!! I am so excited and can no longer concentrate on work, crap! I won’t be posting while on my vacation, and I know it will break all of your hearts (read with heavy sarcasm).

M. and I went to the demolition derby last night and we had a blast, we go in the pits becuase he helps fix the cars up before and after and so does his boss, so we rode along with him last night!

I am now halfway through the third book in the Twilight series! I was dissapointed to see that the last two books haven’t come out in paperback yet, but whatev! I didn’t have to buy the second one, I went to my neighbors to borrow luggage and I asked her if she read Twilight, and she said her and her 11 or 12 year old son are reading Twilight on and off together so that they can watch the movie together, but they bought New Moon (the second book) to read next. She asked if I wanted to borrow it, and M. was like “You really don’t have to ask, just give her the damn book and she’ll bring it back tomorrow” YAY I finished the book in a day or less and brought it back to them so he could have it at camp!

While M. and I were at the mall I was like we can’t go past Borders (our book store) otherwise I’ll want to buy the next book! And he was like, I don’t care just by it! So I bought it and I am SLOWLY reading it to the best of my ability! I love this series and am completely blown away by the fierceness of Edward and Bella’s relationship and their lives toghether! LOVE IT!

Anywhoo, this is my good-bye post so good-bye, so long!! No let’s just pray I can make it through tomorrow without it feeling like a decade!

Twilight? Really!

July 21, 2009 at 3:39 pm (Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

This weekend I was out of reading material and I had a long weekend to sit in the house while the renovations were being done on our pipes and in the kitchen by M.’s dad (a post in and of itself) so I went to my bookstore and they are remodelling! Damn it all, I was just getting used to the layout. Anyway, I went in thinking

“Geesh, Courtney, everyone is on this Harry Potter wagon why don’t you do it to?”

So I asked the lady where the Harry Potter books are and she led me to the KID section! The first book was like 200 pages or so and I knew that wouldn’t last me but an hour, and M. would kill me if I needed another book next week already! So I wandered around with a ton of time to kill and found Twilight. I thought:

“Well, everyone is reading this, why would you want to read this?”

Then I thought well if EVERYONE reads it and likes it I could try it and if I don’t like it I will just return it! So I bought it along with an Emily Giffin book. I started the book on Sunday and was already half-way through by bedtime! This book has compeltely enveloped me in the story line, so much so that I bring the book with me everywhere (I think you get the gist of that)! I read all hour on my lunch, and crack it open the moment I get home before M. arrives!! It has taken my breath away and I absolutely can’t wait to finish and watch the movie, but I find myself hiding the cover because I don’t want everyone to think I am a person who reads what EVERYONE is reading. Granted I like a lot of authors that are popular, but I try to stay off the main trend because I don’t want to follow the “crowd” so to speak. I thought I would share with everyone that I am completely in love with Edward and Bella and can’t sit here at work without thinking about how I can sneak this big honkin book out on my desk without anyone noticing!

Has anyone else been completely enraptured with this book? Does the movie even compare to the book? And is New Moon (the next book) just as good???

So much to say…

July 17, 2009 at 3:25 pm (Bitch, Bitch, Bitch, Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

I have been thinking about this post for quite some time. I started this blog on the premise that I would learn about writing (something that I enjoy) and I would grow. Lately it seems I write about the same thing over and over again, so I am going to change it up a bit and actually talk about my past.

Now, I don’t usually talk about my past without forming some sort of blockade over my heart and soul for fear that people will judge and throw my family into a statistic, but I feel as though I haven’t been myself and I should probably drop the facade and let everyone see me. I’m told I’m not so bad, so we shall see!

The Younger Years:
I was born in Rockford, IL to my mom and dad who had been together since high school, with a short break in the relationship around college. My sister is 15 months older then me and I already posted about her so I’m going to skip that whole saga. My mom’s side of the family is mainly in Illinois where I was born and raised until I was 13. My dad’s side of the family is scattered around Illinois, Wisconsin, and some distant relatives in Texas. Basically I remember my childhood being great, we never had a lot of money but no one ever KNEW we were broke! Things started getting rocky right before we moved out of Illinois, my mom became an alcoholic and my sister and I basically took care of her while my dad was at the Fire Department and finishing up his classes to become a paramedic. We moved to our dream house but couldn’t afford it any longer when my mom started to “work from home” and we ended up moving in with my Aunt and Uncle for 9 months in Wisconsin. Eventually my dad got a better job offer in Nebraska so we moved there! Things just got more turbulent and ugly with my mom’s drinking and she also abused prescription drugs and had to be taken to different hospitals (medical and psychiatric) on numerous occasions. Most of the details I can’t remember which I think is why I’m so well adjusted now and don’t hold any grudges with my mom or my dad. Anyway, when my mom and dad separated I became a TOTAL daddy’s girl (I always was one, but mom was there to spend time with too) and completely rebelled against everyone and everything. I worked to help pay bills and stayed out to all hours of the night, making up for some of the adolescent years I lost. I started smoking (marijauna) and getting into some crappy situations (never with the police, but still) so I moved to New York where my mom had moved in with her boyfriend at the time. It almost killed me to leave my dad and move away but we both knew it was for the best. I straightened out and went to college, met M., and now we are two crazy people sharing our lives that have wacko parents! Somedays I get annoyed with my mom if I think shes been drinking, it’s unconscious I don’t realize I’m doing it until we are in a full blown fight. So I grew up in a somewhat turbulent home, but it really has helped me grow into the strongwilled and independent women that I am today!

YAY for Fridays right?!

HUH?? I CAN’T HEAR YOU??

July 16, 2009 at 3:21 pm (Bitch, Bitch, Bitch, Thought of the Day)

What was that?? HUH??? I can’t hear you over your extremely loud fucking music at your CUBE!! No, you don’t have an actual office you are in a cube surrounded by OTHER CUBES who can hear what you say, sing, and listen to at the most obnoxious level!

Now I am not the type of person to usually say anything to cause conflict in the work place (outside in real life, I’m so different) so when someone went to lunch and left the music blaring I most definitely turned it down to a reasonable level. AND AND AND she didn’t even frickin notice y’all! Come on now, something is crazy here!? And I may have a little crazy in me but I’m not THAT crazy!

On another bitchy note, and yes my BUDDY (wink, wink) is visiting right now, why do you talk to yourself? I mean seriously, again, we are all sitting in CUBES facing EACH OTHER and we can MOST definitely hear what you say or talk about on your fucking endless phone conversations! Yo, these ladies are insensitivo! I am so glad I don’t work with more women, and this just proves again that I get along with men a whole hell of a lot better then women!! Not to say that I don’t have women friends, I just can’t stand the insensitive, know-it-all, prissy, froo-froo type of women that everything has to be there way or they make everyone elses (read: my life) life miserable!! Ok that is my rant for the day…signing off now.

What a night!

July 16, 2009 at 1:07 pm (Daily Ramblings, Family, Gotta Love Men!, Thought of the Day)

Last night M. and I went out on his bosses boat with his bosses wife and baby (sooo effing cute by the way) and we had a blast!!! We drove to the launching point and head off on a nice slow ride because the baby was with us, we circled around and took some pictures, I will post some when I get home from work, and then docked at a lake front restaurant/bar to grab a drink. After that M., his boss, and I got back on the boat to play around and so I could see what this boat was made of!! It’s got a 454 engine in it, which probably doesn’ t mean much to most people, just know this boat hauls serious ass! M. and his bosses cheeks were flying back like a cartoon! After I officially became obsessed with buying a boat we went back and docked and packed up and headed to Wendy’s. Now usually I lurve me some Wendy’s, I used to work at one and I usually only go a few times a year since we don’t live by one, but this one was HORRIBLE!! There was a group of men in front of us who barely spoke english (which wasn’t the bad part) who placed there order for no less then a metric ton of food to the cashier lady who looked like she had been working for 4 days in. a. row. with now break! It was horrible, no one knew what was going on and she walked so slow that my turtle would have whooped her slow behind all the way to china town! Anyway we stood in line at a FAST food restaurant for 35 minutes. The baby was being fed in the car and she got done faster then we got served!? Anywho, we ate then headed home and it was a fun time to be had by all!! I’m almost too excited that the weekend is almost here becuase we have to buy stuff for our vacation and…it’s only one more week and a couple of days before we leave!!! SWEET SUCKATASH I AM EXCITED!!

Almost Friday everyone buckle up and have an amazing weekend!

Giveaway, Weekend Wrap-Up, Chocolate Martini Recipe all in ONE!

July 13, 2009 at 7:57 pm (Daily Ramblings, Dinner at My House, GIVEAWAYS!, Thought of the Day)

EDITED TO ADD: THE CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!!!! I’m using random line picker website thinger so it is fair and I will announce the winner tomorrow morning!! Thanks for playing and stay tuned because I like this giveaway thing there will be plenty more in the future!

We shall start with the weekend wrap-up:

Friday: Usual work day, a little slow but I got to cruise some of my favorite blogs! Traffic was the worst part of my day because when I got home M. and I went out to dinner and ran to the mall so he could get his phone fixed and I could pick up some stuff for our bathroom (new shower curtain, bath mat, towels). We got back home and cuddled ;)!

Saturday: Because we ran most of our errands on Friday night we got to just chill and watch some television and then M. wanted to help out his boss and take in the junk truck to a dumping facility, so I got to ride in the “death trap” truck! FUN STUFF EGH?! I know you’re all jealous! We got back and M. asked if he could help our neighbor/friend with his transmission that blew, I said yes because I have my third Jen Lancaster book and well my afternoon was pretty set! After M. was done with that we went out to dinner with all of our friends, we haven’t gotten together with these friends in FOREVER and because J. might have to go back to Iraq we all decided to have a good time! We started at Cheeseburger in Paradise where I discovered the Chocolate Martini (recipe to follow) and then we headed to this hole in the wall bar that is behind the Police station where one of friends works. Cheap drinks and darts (who could ask for more right?) Well, me being OCD, I had to SECURE M. and I a ride home before I actually enjoyed my drinks! Once the ride was secured I drank more and got a little tipsy, not too tipsy where when asked to makout with another girl in our group I had the stable mind to say “NOOOO I’m not that drunk!” M. took me home threw a bottle of water at me and we went to bed. One side note, I am very CHATTY when I’m drunk, if you ever want to know what I think about something just get me a drink!! 🙂

Sunday: Water damage in half our kitchen, cabinets torn down, moldy shit had to be cleaned, stress ensued. M. and I then decided to release some stress and went to a car show in the Camaro! We had a great time and went out for pizza and came home to clean up the house and relax!

The Chocolate Martini Recipe:

Ingredients: martini
4 oz. chocolate liqueur
2 oz. vanilla vodka
Splash of Half and Half
Chocolate syrup

Preparation:
Mix chocolate liqueur and vanilla vodka. Add a splash of Half and Half and shake over ice. Line a martini glass with chocolate syrup. Add mixture.

Summer Hours

July 10, 2009 at 2:58 pm (Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

When I am at work emailing away on Friday and I get responses that say:

“Our office is closed for summer hours at 3 on Fridays”

I get jealous….nope jealousy is not a strong enough word I am so envious I feel like my eyes bug out when I get these responses! I so badly want summer hours, especially on nice days like today. It’s FINALLY not raining, 80 degrees barely a cloud in the sky and here our company sits till 5! Oh well, this is the only thing I have to complain about regarding my job so I’m doing good, not to mention they hired me right out of college and I am so extremely blessed to have  a job right now!!

summersky

Anywhoo…my plans for the weekend are simple…to relax, because this is the last weekend we have before we have to start going crazy preparing for our trek across America! I am so excited…I know you’re probably sick of hearing about it but I just had to say it again!!

What are your plans for the weekend??

Most expensive lunch…EVER!

July 8, 2009 at 1:46 pm (Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

So today I decided to go and pick up some stuff to make M. a special lunch with fresh cold cuts. After I get home and clean up the house and prepare everything for him to come home he calls me and says they are crazy busy at work. I told him I bought him special food and he asked me to still make it and bring it to his job and we could eat together. Cool, so he’ll still get to enjoy the lunch. I made a couple of sandwiches, wrapped up pickles, and threw some water bottles in a bag and head out to take him his LOVE FILLED lunch!

As I’m driving, about 1/2 a mile from my house and about 1 mile left to M.’s job the speed limit goes from 45 to 55 and I sped up too soon and OF COURSE I get effing pulled over! I couldn’t get pulled over by an officer that M. and his boss knows, nope it was state police! CRAAAAP!!! I didn’t even get a warning, and I was being super nice!! I got a frickin ticket, DOUBLE CRAAAAP!! Normally you would think I would be worried about what M. would think if he would be mad, except that he’s gotten a total of like 7 tickets so he can’t really say anything. Actually he just laughed and said “What am I going to do with you?” At least he’s a good sport about it!! I just hope that the court date is AFTER my vacation otherwise it will be a bummer to go on vacation after I have to PAY a ticket!

Speeding

I had my dentist appointment, it wasn’t as bad as the first time and I got a lot of work done for a lesser amount then I thought it was going to be!! I hope everyone is having a good HUMP day!! I am now finally relaxing with my kitten and turtly all while watching LMN and TLC, PERFECT!
