Weekend Wrap-Up

June 29, 2009 at 1:40 pm (Daily Ramblings, Gotta Love Men!, Movie Review, Thought of the Day)

WOW I am finally doing a weekend wrap-up closer to the weekend then farther away this week!

Friday: Friday was a decent day of work, I had stuff to do so I didn’t sit around staring at the clock all day! But then the commute hit me…and the parts that are normally rough were easy. I got one town away and every road (back road or normal route) was effin closed. I got off the highway (which was completely stopped) at 6:30 and didn’t get home until 7:30 when it usually takes me 20 minutes after I get off the highway to get home! Anyway, I got home M. and I headed back out after I changed for our anniversary dinner! We have been together 4 years! AND he sent me 18 long stem beautiful roses at work!! Anywho…we finished dinner and headed home and we were both exhausted by about 10:30-11 and we headed to bed.

Saturday: Kind of a bum day, we ran errunds, hung around and then M. asked if he could help his friend re-build his engine. I said fine, reluctantly, and he said only 2 hours. Now any women who dates a mechanic/car-guy/technician/engine re-builder can tell you when you are told a time you always add about 30-60 minutes on to the total time. I agreed he could go, I cleaned and settled in to read my new book by Emily Giffin “Something Borowed.” I called 3 hours later:

“Hey, are you almost done?”

“Because it’s almost 7”

“Oh shit, my bad, we are almost wrapping up here I’ll be home in like 10-20 minutes and then we’ll grab pizza.”

“Ok, see you then, love you bye.”

“Love you bye.”

AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER he calls me and says he is on the way and if the pizza place is fine to grab dinner I said “Fine” he said he would pick me up in the driveway. He showed up with his friend driving behind him to go get pizza. M. knew instantly I was pissed because he was gone 4 1/2 hours when he said 2 and I CALLED him after 3! Anyway we got through dinner and I was eventually over it by the end of the night. We made plans with his friend and his friends girlfriend to go the IMAX showing of Transformers the next day and we went home to relax.

Sunday: We left at 11 to go the IMAX movie that is about an hour and 15 minutes away from our house and we picked up our friends and we got to see Transformers in IMAX!!! OMG it was freaking awesome. I am so addicted to this movie now it’s not even funny! Thanks to M.! We had Cold Stone Ice Cream, best ice cream ever, and then we shopped a little bit and then headed home. We got home around 7:30 or so, M.’s back was in bad shape so he lounged on the couch and we watched Extreme Home Makeover (I cried) and then we scooted off to bed!

Here we are only effing Monday, but at least I have Friday off!!

I love him!

June 26, 2009 at 3:33 pm (Daily Ramblings, Gotta Love Men!)

Today is M. and my 4 year anniversary! Exactly one year from today in 4 minutes we will be standing at the alter getting ready to say our “I Do’s.” I gave M. his cards (I always get him a funny one and a lovey-mush one) and some candy because he said he didn’t/couldn’t think of anything to ask for. So we both agreed cards would be ok this year since we are trying to save up for the not so cheap wedding! I come to work and I’m working on a few projects for my manager and my head is pounding and the lady at the front desk IM’s me and says “you have something up here” thinking it was my daily package from the bank I said “be there in a minute.” I go up about 10 minutes later after I’m at a stopping point in the project and there is a HUGE thing of roses FOR ME!! 18 long-stem roses and a beautiful glass vase, he is so sweet!! I never actually thought he would send me flowers at work, but he did and I love it!!

Here we are again!

June 25, 2009 at 7:00 pm (Daily Ramblings, My heart is breaking, Road Rage!)

Ok so M. is working on some other project involving cars tonight so I am all alone again!! You know it’s not so bad, because this time I had GREAT traffic and actually have a great new book to read, and a brand new recipe thing from Borders that I can transfer all of my recipes!! Again I am showing everyone how nerdy I am, but honestly this is awesome for me…like a fat kid loves cake….like most college students covet free beer! But I digress…

I am so excited to start Emily Giffin’s “Something Borrowed” I found her as I was ordering some more Jen Lancaster and Jodi Picoult on Amazon. I love Amazon they take your purchases and then come up with suggestions that you might like, I found Emily Giffin and started reading some of the info on her books, perfect chit lit for a night alone with my Fanta Orange soda and a banana (what a duo egh?) I hope all of you can have time to yourself once a week, I am soaking this up because the moment we have children (far in the future) I will not likely have much of this time left!

ON another note, I feel compelled to share how unbelievably ignorant some drivers can be on the evening commute!! I work in Accounting and once I leave my desk to head home I am like any other New Yorker (pronounced with appropriate accent, New Yalker) and I want to get the eff home with no incident and in a timely manner. If you plan on going below the speed limit and NOT pass any cars in the slow lane then please for the love of all things holy get out of the fast lane otherwise you will be flipped off with the most disgusted look, hands in air screaming with the windows up “what the fuck? are you kidding me?” I wish that people could just get it through their heads that it is not ok to be in the fast lane and NOT pass anyone in the slow lane!! GRRR!! Also there seems to be an over-abundance of one religious group around where I live/work (I’m not naming the group I don’t want to offend) that about 91%(I’m in accounging remember?) of the accidents are with them. Up to and including flip overs, rolls, and your average rear-ending! I make it appoint to go around said people because I do not want to be entangled in any sort of accident they have looming in their destiny! I am an aggressive driver and I am REALLY (read=a little) to calm down as to not give myself a heart attack at age 21 and to not be the next accident on the parkway/highway! Thank you all for listening!

P.S. I can’t believe it, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson!! Three great people gone!

Movie Review (Transformers)!

June 25, 2009 at 9:38 am (Movie Review)

Ok so here we go…a new release and I’m reviewing it!! I’m so hip and cool!

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen: Shia Lebouf and Megan Fox are absolutely mesmerizing on the big screen!

t1They real you in with their up-to-date love/drama starting college relationship! Sam (Shia) is trying to start college without the “curse” of robotic aliens attached to him so he tells Bumblebee (2010 Camaro HOTT!!!) that he needs to go to college alone.

All the while more and more strange things start happening when Sam finds a little shard of the All Spark, cube thingy, in his old clothes. Eventually Sam is called on to fight this battle, which he believes (at first) is not his battle to fight. The stupdi government guy starts to turn his back on the Autobots, but eventually they come to save the day as per usual!! I LOVED this movie, it had enough of the love/drama stuff to sustain me, but just enough action to thrill me!! Truly a remarkable movie!

Although I, personally, could have waited until the weekend to see it, we had fun going on opening day and the thrill of seeing it first with a bunch of other people was exhilerating (sp?)! I recommend seeing this movie ASAP if you are a fan of the first one it will definitely NOT disapoint!

Transformers or Bust!

June 24, 2009 at 11:17 am (Daily Ramblings, Gotta Love Men!)

Ok so since the first Transformers movie came up M. has been OBSESSED!! And I think by saying he is obsessed is too light of a term for how he acts when anything Transformers comes on the TV or in a store or anywhere for that matter! As it stands the second Transformer movie debuts today, so we are going with another coupl, M.’s boss, and another one of M.’s friends tonight at 8:15. This is a 2 1/2 hour movie folks, I mean 8:15 this is when I start to hunker down and make sure everything is set for me to dive into bed by 9:30 or 10 so I can be rested and beautiful at work! Unfortunately I probably won’t be going to bed before midnight tonight, which means less then 8 hours of sleep…(GASP) the horror of it all! I am doing this to support my honey, and I have to admit I like the movie, I’m just not as crazy about it as he is! So I will probably be posting a review tomorrow for anyone who cares!

I’m nervous now about getting good seats, and making sure all of the tickets I purchased (in three seperate orders I might add) on Fandango are ready and waiting for me at the big FANDANGO machine! Although I am starting to wonder if I’m getting to nervous, because it is still a school night and school is still in session around these parts! Hmm….who knows!

Anyone forced to see movies their hubbies or significant others just HAVE to see? I would love to hear your stories!

Thought of the Day

June 23, 2009 at 6:31 pm (Daily Ramblings, Thought of the Day)

While watching the news almost every morning, Megan Meany (Today show traffic lady), says the infamous

“Opposite side parking is in effect today”

Now, let me pose my thought!

IF you are just moving to magical New York City, how on earth do you know which side is the opposite side? I mean what if you live on a street where there is only one side of parking do you have to park 6 blocks away? M. and I always ask each other this same question every time we hear her traffic report!? Any ideas!

P.S. I probably could ask my almost brother-in-law who lives in Brooklyn but hey, I like to ask you guys instead? Any guesses?

Weekend Wrap-Up

June 22, 2009 at 3:33 pm (Daily Ramblings)

Alright so unfortunately it’s Monday, and I would like  to relive my weekend, because I prefer weekends to week-days ANY DAY!

Friday: Let’s see, M. got home from work and we decided to stay in and cook steak and rice for dinner, because we ordered pizza on Thursday and we knew we’d be going out again on Sunday for Father’s Day. We hung out, grabbed a movie (Shopaholic), and we got ice cream (Chocolate with Extra Cherry Dip, I am soooo in love with this at the moment).

Saturday: We had to take Chevy to the vet to get his ears checked, it turns out he doesn’t have ear mites just a lot of “gunk” in his ears, so we have to use a solution that will help him clean his ears since he hasn’t been doing a good job by himself. (I heart run-0n sentences!) Then we went to town to run some errunds and get some food shopping done! We came home and it had just started to monsoon rain so we stayed in the rest of the night, and I got 3/4 of the way done with my latest book! (Jen Lancaster, Bright Lights Big Ass)

Sunday: Father’s Day, I bought M. a few CD’s and breakfast for Father’s Day. Then his brother came up from the city and we all went out to lunch with M., M.’s brother D., and Mel’s dad to Charlie Browns Steakhouse! They have a FANTASTIC salad bar and parmesan crusted chicken!! YUM!! Then M. and I went to Avenue so I could pick up a few summer shirts for work! It’s getting friggin hot! Other then that we came home and relaxed and had a very nice slow and relaxed weekend!

Come on whoever can make this week go by quicker will be my Bestest Friend!

Movie Review!

June 21, 2009 at 2:31 pm (Movie Review)

Usually I don’t post on the weekends, but I’m having a relaxing morning surfing the net so I thought I would post the movie review of Confessions of  a Shopaholic while it is fresh in my memory!

Confessions of a Shopaholic: Rebecca Bloomwood, Isla Fisher, is a journalist for a magazine she has no desire to write for but it is a means to her addiction of shopping. In the beginning of the movie we find out that Rebecca has around $16,000 dollars worth of debt and a creditor named Derek Smeath is maliciously trying to get in contact with her for payment! The magazine she works for goes under and she gets a job at a financial magazine giving advice on financial planning?! Crazy, considering her life, financially, is HORRIBLE! Eventually everything comes out in a dramatic fashion, and she eventually gets back at the loser collector Derek Smeath and falls in love! Overall this movie was cute and true in a lot of ways for a lot of women in the world! A chick flick that M. could NOT sit through, so definitely a girls night out type of movie!

Any ideas on movies that you would like for me to review, please let me know, I’m all about pleasing my readers!!
