Cheesy Chicken!

March 9, 2010 at 10:12 am (Dinner at My House)

Alright so I can no longer post at work…our server was updated so now we are linked to the corporate headquarters, so I guess this means they are watching us now…IDK I shouldn’t be posting from work anyways :)! I made a fabulous dinner this weekend, so I thought I would share.
Stuff you’ll need:
boneless skinless chicken strips
fresh garlic
garlic powder
lawrys seasoned salt
two kinds of cheeses ( I chose fresh grated Parmesan and mozzarella)

Steps: Preheat oven to 400 degees
You want to pound the chicken strips so they lay flat, after all of the strips are flat season both sides with garlic powder and seasoned salt (feel free to use whatever seasoning you like). Theb place the mixed cheeses on top of one strip and lay another strip on top. Next you wrap a slice of bacon around this and secure with a toothpick. have your baking pans ready that have been buttered and place each chicken wrap in the pan as you secure it with a toothpick. After you have all of the chicken wrapped and ready place some minced fresh garlic on top and scatter some butter aside the chicken so it stays moist while baking. Place in the oven for about 20-35 minutes depending on the thickness of your chicken. When there is a couple of minutes left add the rest of the mixed cheese to the top of the chicken and put it back in the
oven to melt!

Mel absolutely loved this dish, he couldn’t stop complementing it! I hope you like it too!

I will be posting about the surpise party soon! Overall it was a success but very stressful the hour before!

I am throwing my very first surprise party! It’s for Mel’s 25th birthday, which is this Sunday! I have invited quite a few people and he has NO IDEA, which is the most exciting part! He thinks everyone is busy on his birthday! I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he sees everyone there. One couple we haven’t seen in years so I KNOW he’ll be surprised to see them! I’m throwing it at Dave & Busters (it’s great food and an adult arcade if you’ve never heard of them). What I want to know is has anyone thrown a surprise party before? Is there something I should be aware of or know before going into this? I appreciate any help!

Happy Thursday, almost Friday!!

Snowed in…

March 1, 2010 at 11:20 am (Daily Ramblings, Family, Gotta Love Men!)

To answer the question “what are kissing bells?” You know how people clank their utensils on glasses to make the bride and groom kiss? Well that annoys the bajeesus out of Mel so we are thinking about doing Kissing Bells, which are little bells that people ring if they want us to kiss!

I asked for snow…and I got it!! Boy did I get it! Wednesday night into Thursday we got around 8 inches (not too bad) couldn’t go into work…then Thursday into Friday we got 36 inches of snow!! AND our power went out! And we were told that power wouldn’t be restored until next Wednesday!  So we were stuck, thank goodness Mel’s boss has a plow because after an hour of shoveling we had maybe dug out 1/4 of what needed to be dug out! Then we all went to town and had breakfast…planning ahead and not knowing when we would be able to shower next! Our friend who lives in the same town came over to hang out with us because we have a propane heater…and her house had electric heat and she was a bit frozen. We were planning on gonig to a hotel…but ALL of the hotels in ALL of the surrounding areas were BOOKED SOLID! So we were going to rent a small generator…only one place had one left and we needed to get there by 5…it was 4:20! We rushed but couldn’t do it, then we borrowed a generator, but something was wrong with it so we only had about an hour and a half with that one. All this brings us to Friday night, we had the propane heater on until we went to bed (because of the fumes, we had to turn it off) when we woke up, we were both icicles and started working on a new generator. Mel’s dad (who is essentially our landlord) decided he needed to buy a generator, even if we got power back it’s good to have. We went to Home Depot, bought a generator, had a good friend wire it into our fuse box…and the whole house lit up!! I got to take a shower and all was right with the world…except NO CABLE! OMG I know, I have heat but no cable, whats the point? 🙂 We went out with friends to Red Robbin on Saturday night, and when we got home power was restored and so was cable. This is when I learned about Chile and the new devastation there. We had a good night of sleep, and then the cable was out again Sunday morning! BLAH! I went with a couple of girlfriends to register at Macy’s (SO MUCH FUN and I got a free tote bag!) And by the time Mel and I got home from laundary and our errands we had Cable!! All in all we had a crazy weekend, going non-stop trying to figure out how to heat our home so our pipes wouldn’t freeze and I forgot to mention, I had to melt snow on our propane stove to be able to flush the toilet! I was a semi-pioneer for a couple of days…and I survived!

Thanks to everyone who gave me advise about not stressing about the wedding, and honestly you are right. I should just enjoy every part of it because I only get to do it once!

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a warm weekend!

Alrighty…so I definitely thought I posted last week. Come to find out I haven’t posted in about 3 weeks! Yikes, I am all over the place. I am happy to report since then I have had a couple of snow days, and we are looking at a foot of snow coming in tonight and all day tomorrow (HAPPY DANCE!) I still haven’t seen Dear John (sorry) we haven’t had the time or the money to go see it :(. I am going this Sunday with a girlfriend to do another registry for the wedding…I would take Mel but he is all “Are we done yet?” and after 10 minutes “You are only allowed to scan one more thing, and thats it!” and then I’m all “SHUT UP this is like Christmas for me, jerk face!”

So to avoid this delightful conversation, I am going without him with a friend thats all “OOOOH…we have 5 more minutes to spare…look at those pans!” The wedding is coming up so frickin quickly I don’t know wether to laugh or to cry…or a mixture of both at the same time which would result in a really akward face. Only four months to go…I still have to order the guest book, champagne flutes, kissing bells (maybe), M&M’s for the favor boxes, passports, etc. I hope everyone is having a great February, because I haven’t been around to know, sorry!

Happy Hump Day!!

Update….still no snow

February 8, 2010 at 10:08 am (Daily Ramblings)

That HUGE snow storm COMPLETELY missed me. I’m talking not even a damn flurry did I see! 😦

That’s the bad news (for me), the good news is that we are supposedly getting a storm Tuesday night into Wednesday! I am hoping and praying we get snow, but I am off that day to go to the doctor so I don’t know what is going to happen…but I JUST WANT SNOW!

Alright, now that I am done screaming about that, I didn’t get to see Dear John this weekend. We were so unbelievably busy that when we left the house Saturday morning, we didn’t return again until like 11 PM. Then Sunday it was such a lazy day that we didn’t do ANYTHING, except run to the store so I could get the stuff to make biscuits! Mel rented a stupid movie, Pandora, I couldn’t even get into it so I’m not sure what it is about to be able to review it! Going to down some excedrin to get rid of my migraine and hope that this Monday flys by!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hoping for Snow

February 2, 2010 at 12:44 pm (Daily Ramblings, Movie Review)

Usually in the winter in upstate New York we receive a decent amount of snow. This year has been a total flop! I LOVE SNOW and I LOVE WINTER (I know I will receive flogging for those statements) so to have less then a foot of snow, and to be able to see the grass pretty much the entire winter so far is such a drag for me! They are saying snow may be on the horizon for tonight into tomorrow for my area!! I am so excited…but then again I shouldn’t be because everytime that weather man says there will be snow we don’t get anything! I will have to keep my hopes low and then maybe just maybe I will see some accumulation!

In other news for Blond Duck I did watch Inglorious Bastards awhile back so here is the review:

This movie, while hilarious in a demented way is not for the faint of heart. If you aren’t into guns killing people or people killing people for that matter then you should probably explore other avenues of entertainment for your evening (or snow day if you are so lucky). The cast is funny and includes some new talent who play New York/New Jersey soldiers and at some point in the movie they try to act German and French and it just cracks me up! In this movie they kill Hitler so it does have some vengeance at the end!

Any other ideas for movies are more then welcome! Although I must tell you I will be at Dear John first thing Saturday morning without fail!

I don’t have to tell some of you that I am completely obsessed with Channing Tatum, I mean YUM! His new movie Dear John is coming out on February 5th and I can’t wait! I read the book and am 100% positive that I will be blubbering through most of the movie! Anyways…I thought since I can’t wait to see this movie, I would review a couple of movies that we rented this weekend!

Gamer: Gerard Butler is so very hot that the wierdness of this movie can be overlooked in my eyes. Basically this guy invented a real life Sim’s game using people by implanting something in their brains so they can be controlled. That stemmed into creating a video game using death row inmates as pawns (because who cares if they die anyway, I don’t personally agree with that but it is just a movie) well…it’s very creepy and is sad to see what technology can do to our way of life if were not careful. Anyway Gerard Butler is the main character who beats all the levels and is trying to make it back to his wife and daughter. All in all it was an ok movie, just a little bit wierd.

Surrogats: Ok, this movie is with Bruce Willis and I didn’t actually want to see it, but it turned out to be an OK movie. It’s about normal people plugging in at home and controlling their surrogate bodies that don’t age or get sick and can basically be shot or even jump off a bridge and you still won’t die. This is also very eye-opening to see where technology can take us and the damage it can do. Anyway the creator of the surrogates is playing both the good and the bad sides of this movie, and a technology is built that can destroy surrogates AND the humans behind them. So basically Bruce Willis has to stop the bad guys…all in all it was ok…something to think about and see exactly how technology can take over a world.

I also watched Step-Up this week, which I love because of the dancing and….you guessed it Channing Tatum 🙂

If you have any ideas for movie reviews let me know, I would be happy to rent and review them if I can!

Wedding Planning Anxiety!

January 20, 2010 at 10:37 am (Daily Ramblings)

Ok, so Mel and I got engaged on Thanksgiving day 2008 and we are getting married this June 2010. We’ve had quite a bit of time to get all the main things in order which we have….or so I thought. I just recently started thinking about the little things. The little things are starting to pile up, and I’m beginning to get nervous! I am not someone who likes to do things at the last minute, so waiting to order the cake a couple of months before the wedding is terrifying to me! We have to get the cake cutters, champagne flutes, gifts for everyone, personalized M&M’s for our favors, marriage license, and our unique guest book! I’m sure I’m missing a few things, but it seriously is starting to keep me up at night thinking about the little things. I started having dreams, each dream is a different scenario of our wedding and EACH time I’ve forgotten something CRUCIAL, like the DJ or the flower girl’s dress (which I’m not sure why I was responsible for in the dream, but thats another issue.) Mel and I secured our officiant last night, we have to go over the little details for the ceremony but our date is set in stone! Now we HAVE to secure the DJ. The DJ is the dad of Mel’s friend  and we had a paper to fill out of all the stuff they needed, and because I couldn’t think of the song Mel and I would dance to until last month….the paper has gone missing. So now we have to get in touch with them for another paper to fill out and hopefully they didn’t give our date away…not to mention paying for everything ourselves! Just a little bit anxious these days! I will definitely keep you all in the loop…and any suggestions would be AWESOME!

Happy Hump Day!!

I’m going back…waaaay back!

January 13, 2010 at 10:09 am (Daily Ramblings)

Ok so I’ve finally set my mind to it that I am going back to school! Yes by the title it sounds as if I am going back in time or something equally awesome, but I am deciding to further my education and I feel that is a superb thing! I know that I want to do editorial work and maybe some writing and teaching, so I am going to be looking into an english/communications degree. I am looking into english, because well as I’ve said a thousand times before I LOVE TO READ and I am hoping to gain some in depth understanding of what I read!

Ok…now that you know my plans, I am not going to be able to go back…(waaaay back) until after the wedding in June, because although I know I can be a lot like superwoman, I know that I will not have full concentration until after the anxiety driven chaos wedding!

In other news, Mel has been really tired lately, so tired that he fell asleep before the first hour of American Idol season 9 premiere was over! CRAZY I know! So hopefully it’s just the antibiotic that he’s taking that’s making him tired, otherwise I will have to delve further into his psyche…or maybe just take him back to the doctor!

It’s Wednesday…HUMP Day! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

Wrapping it up!

January 11, 2010 at 12:19 pm (Daily Ramblings, Gotta Love Men!)

It seems a lot of people are undecided about the Kindle because who doesn’t love the idea of a fresh new book!! Thank goodness I am not alone! One thing that I love about it is that no matter where I am I can start a new book, if I hear about a book I can look it up on the spot and see how much it will cost and read the description! Also the books are all under $10 which is delightful!!

Anyway, I took a few pictures at New Year’s but I can’t post any of them because they are decidely too naughty or their are a ton of people in it and I don’t know if I have permission to post! I have one picture, that is the aftermath…

The only thing missing in this picture is the beer and Hypnotic! Anyway it was a crazy night!! We had a great time, and considering this is the one time per year Mel and I drink we went to town! (Also note that we had this party in a hotel so no one drove home or was even close to leaving the party drunk!!) I was sick all last week, so that is why it took me forever to post about the party!

I can’t believe it is 2010, and I am getting married in like 5 1/2 months! Time flys, thats for sure! Mel bought a new shirt, he thought it was funny:

I’m still not sure wether or not to laugh or cry about the shit eating grin he has on his face, because he was wearing it in public! The little things in life amuse him!
